Navarre End User License Agreement and Terms of Use
By installing or using Navarre (the "Software"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
1. What Navarre is
Navarre is a set of apps and server software - the Navarre apps for Android TV, Android phones, and Windows, the Navarre server, and the Navarre companion (the watch-from-anywhere helper) - that you use with your own media server: Navarre's own server, or a Jellyfin, Emby, or Plex server you run yourself. It lets you watch your library on your devices - on your local network for free, and, where your server supports it, from outside your local network after a one-time purchase. Navarre does not host, provide, or supply any media content. You are solely responsible for the media on your server and for your right to access and stream it.
2. License grant
Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use.
- Free tier: using Navarre on your local network is free.
- One-time unlock: watching from outside your local network requires a one-time purchase, at the price shown when you buy. The unlock is tied to your account and enables remote-access features across your devices. The Software is licensed, not sold.
3. Open-source components
Navarre includes third-party open-source software, each under its own license. Those licenses are reproduced in the app's "Legal notices" screen and accompanying notices. To the extent any included open-source license grants you rights that conflict with these terms, that open-source license governs that component and its rights prevail.
Some of the open-source components in this section are licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or version 3. For those components, and only for those, the restrictions in Section 4 do not apply to you. You may modify any LGPL-licensed component for your own use, you may replace the copy we ship with a build of your own, and you may reverse engineer Navarre itself as far as you genuinely need to in order to debug those modifications. In Navarre for Windows, we ship every LGPL component as a separate file rather than compiling it into Navarre, so swapping one is a matter of replacing the file. In the Android apps, the LGPL-licensed Jellyfin SDK is built into the app, and in the Navarre companion it is packaged inside the companion's own program file; if you want to use a modified version of it with either, email support@navarre.tv and we will provide what the LGPL requires for you to do so. The Navarre server image also carries FFmpeg under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later: it is a separate program that the server runs, not part of Navarre's own code, and its source is offered at navarre.tv/source. The complete source code for the exact version of each LGPL component we ship is at navarre.tv/source, free of charge, for as long as we distribute the matching build. Nothing in this agreement takes away any right the LGPL gives you, and if anything here reads as though it does, the LGPL wins.
4. Restrictions
Except as permitted by applicable law or by the license of an included open-source component (Section 3), you may not:
- resell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the Software;
- remove or alter any proprietary notices;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the proprietary parts of the Software;
- use the Software to infringe any third party's rights or to violate any law.
5. Your server and content
You represent that you have the right to store, access, and stream the media on your media server. Navarre is a conduit to your own server and does not review, control, or take responsibility for your content. You are responsible for configuring your server, your network, and your access controls.
6. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for activity under it. We use passwordless email sign-in; keep your email account secure.
7. Purchases and refunds
Purchases are governed by our Refund Policy and, for store purchases, by the applicable app store's terms. See the Refund Policy for details, including how remote access is handled after a refund.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that remote access will always be available (it depends on your server, your network, and third-party services).
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NAVARRE ENTERPRISES LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR PROFITS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR IT IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
10. Termination
This license ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may stop using the Software at any time and delete your account (in the app or at navarre.tv/delete).
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive venue for disputes is the state or federal courts located in Arizona, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
12. Changes
We may update these terms; we will post the revised effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
